Membership Fees and Fines

Cochrane Public Library members can access the library's various programs and services. Members also have access to thousands of library materials from across the province using our interlibrary loan system.

A valid proof of address is required at the time of registration. Examples include:

  • driver's license
  • rental agreement
  • utility statement

Annual Library Membership Fees:


Child (0-12)                                 Free

Teen (13-18)                               Free

Senior (55+)                                $15.00

Adult                                             $20.00

Family                                          $25.00

Group                                           $40.00

Non-resident                               $70.00

Replacement Card                     $5.00

We will accept the following forms of payment: Cash, Debit, Visa and Mastercard. 

Library Fines:


Late fees – books and audio materials   
 
$0.25 / day to a maximum of $10.00 per item
Late fees -  DVD and Games 
 
$1.00/day to a maximum of $10.00 per item  (effective October 1, 2016)
Unpicked up hold       $0.75 - one-time fee per item


Borrowing:


Cochrane Public Library is a part of The Regional Automation Consortium (TRAC) and The Alberta Library (TAL), both of which offer our users millions of items to choose from!

A valid Cochrane Public Library or ME Libraries card is required to borrow and reserve materials. ME Libraries allows you to use your card from your home library to join other public libraries across Alberta and borrow their materials using only one card. Get the most out of your library card by signing up for ME Libraries today!

Loan Limits:


Patrons are allowed to have 100 items checked out at a time through TRAC.

TAL members are allowed to have 10 items checked out at one time.

Loan Periods*:



Books, audiobooks, magazines - 3 weeks

DVDs - 10 DVDs per patron for 1 to 3 weeks

Video Games - 5 games per patron for 1 to 3 weeks

*These loan periods apply to Cochrane Public Library materials only. Materials brought in from other libraries may have other loan periods.

Holds:


Holds are held up to 5 days. Holds not picked up within this time frame are subject to fines. Please phone the library if you are unable to pick up your library items.
